Median annual wages nationally for interior designers were $48,840 in May 2015. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,130, and the top 10 percent earned more than $91,360. The median annual wages in 2014 for interior designers in the top five industries in which they worked were as follows:
- $57,460 in architectural, engineering, and related services
- $52,640 in residential building construction
- $50,150 in wholesale trade
- $47,940 in specialized design services
- $43,500 in furniture stores
