Physical therapist assistants held about 78,700 jobs in 2014. The industries that employed the most physical therapist assistants in 2014 were as follows:

• Offices: private physical therapy (43 percent)
• Hospitals (23 percent)
• Skilled nursing facilities (11 percent)
• Home health care services (9 percent)
• Offices: physicians (5 percent)

Employment opportunities are projected to grow by approximately 41 percent from 2014 through 2024.
