Employment
	
Interior designers held about 66,500 jobs nationally in 2016, with approximately 25 percent being self-employed. The industries that employed the most interior designers in 2012 were as follows: 
    - Specialized design services (31 percent) 
- Architectural, engineering, and related services (16 percent) 
- Furniture stores (7 percent) 
- Merchant wholesalers of durable goods (5 percent) 
- Self-employed workers (19 percent) 
Employment of interior designers is expected to grow 4 percent from 2016 through 2026
