Physical therapist assistants held about 88,300 jobs in 2018. The industries that employed the most physical therapist assistants in 2016 were as follows:

• Offices: private physical therapy (45 percent)
• Hospitals (23 percent)
• Skilled nursing facilities (11 percent)
• Home health care services (8 percent)
• Offices: physician-based (5 percent)

Employment opportunities are projected to grow by approximately 31 percent from 2016 through 2026.
