Course Description
This course introduces the principles and methods of Quality Management (QM). Topics include the history of quality control, quality control leaders, quality tools, QM implementation, team building for QM, and future quality trends.

Quality Management Basics
- Define quality management.
- Compare International Quality Results.
Quality Management Theories
- Identify the principles and contribution of Deming to the field of quality control.
- Identify the principles and contribution of Juran to the field of quality control.
- Identify the principles and contribution of Ishikawa to the field of quality control.
- Discuss the principles and contribution of Crosby to the field of quality control.
Basic Quality Tools
- Identify principles and application of various process control charts.
- Develop and analyze process control charts to include Pareto Charts, Histograms, X-bar and RCharts, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Scatter Diagrams.
Implementing Quality Management
- Discuss process and check points necessary for management buy-in to QM.
- Discuss process and check points necessary for employee buy-in QM.
Team Building for Quality Management
- Discuss methods to be used in the team building process.
- Define empowerment and discuss principles and procedures involved with employee empowerment.
Future Quality Trends
- Explain the methods of Six Sigma.
- Define lean management and explain its implementation in organizations.
- Discuss the history and implementation of supplier certification requirements.
- Compare major Quality awards in the U.S., Japanese, and world markets.
- Identify major developers of international standards and methods of enforcement for these standards.
