Course Description

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for managers or entrepreneurs to develop and implement business plans. Topics include business/community compatibility, introduction to cash flow and break even analysis, product/service idea development, determination of market feasibility, determination of financial feasibility, marketing strategy development, operations outline development, and application of financial concepts.

Business/Community Compatibility

  • Appraise community assets and deficiencies.
  • Create an original business idea using knowledge of community assets and deficiencies.
  • Construct an initial survey regarding possible locations within the community.

Introduction to Cash Flow and Break Even Analysis

  • Categorize financial terminology used in business planning.
  • Construct sample cash flows.
  • Compare and Contrast fixed and variable costs in break even analysis.

Development of Product/Service Idea

  • Assess the roles of quality, value, and convenience.
  • Explain the type of product/service offered.
