Course Description

This course provides knowledge of CT procedures of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Topics include anatomy, pathology, scanning procedures, scanning protocol, contrast administration, and contraindications for computed tomography.

Course Outcomes

Anatomy

     •  Identify anatomy of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Pathology

     •  Identify common pathologies of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Scanning Procedures

     •  Describe positioning of the patient for exams of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Scanning Protocol

     •  List and explain parameter selection for scans of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

     •  Evaluate scanning parameters and describe methods of protocol modification for pathology or trauma

        cases of the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Contrast Administration

     •  List the different types of contrast media and the administration route for each.

Contraindications for CT

     •  Discuss the indications and contraindications of contrast media for exams of the head, chest, abdomen, 

         and pelvis.
