Course Description
This course explains how to prepare gas tungsten arc welding equipment for open-root V-groove welds on carbon steel and stainless steel pipe in all positions.
Course Outcomes
Carbon steel Pipe Welding
- Prepare GTAW equipment for open-root V-groove welds on carbon steel pipe.
- Identify and explain open-root V-groove pipe weld techniques with GTAW equipment.
- Perform open-root V-groove welds on carbon steel pipe in the following positions using GTAW equipment: 2G, 5G, 6G.
Low-Alloy and Stainless Steel Pipe Welding
- Prepare GTAW equipment to create welds with low-alloy and/or stainless steel filler metal on carbon or stainless steel pipe.
- Identify and explain open-root V-groove pipe weld techniques with GTAW equipment.
- Perform open-root V-groove welds on low-alloy and stainless steel pipe in the following positions using GTAW equipment: 2G, 5G, 6G.
