Employment
	
Interior designers held about 75,400 jobs nationally in 2018, with approximately 19 percent being self-employed. The industries that employed the most interior designers in 2016 were as follows: 
    - Specialized design services (28 percent) 
- Architectural, engineering, and related services (18 percent) 
- Furniture stores (6 percent) 
- Merchant wholesalers of durable goods (6 percent) 
- Self-employed workers (23 percent) 
Employment of interior designers is expected to grow 4 percent from 2018 through 2028.
