Course Description

This internship course provides occupation-based learning opportunities for students pursuing the Paint and Refinishing specialization. Students will be mentored by qualified professional technicians as they experience working in the Automotive Collision Repair profession in an industry standard commercial repair facility or industry standard simulated on-campus facility. Topics include sanding, priming, and paint preparation; special refinishing applications; urethane enamels; tint and match colors; and detailing.

Course Outcomes

 

Sanding, Priming, and Paint Preparation

  • Demonstrate proficiency in surface preparation skills.

Special refinishing applications

  • Demonstrate proficiency in special refinishing applications including fiberglass, plastics, and rubber.

Urethane enamels 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in applications of urethane enamels in solid and metallic colors and single and multi-stage finishes
Tint and match colors
  • Demonstrate proficiency in mixing, matching, and applying colors.

Detailing

  • Demonstrate proficiency in buffing, polishing, waxing, and cleaning vehicles.
