Course Description

Provides continued occupation based learning opportunities for students pursuing the Major Collision Repair specialization. Qualified professional technicians will mentor students as they experience working in the Automotive Collision Repair profession in an industry standard commercial repair facility or industry standard simulated on-campus facility. Topics included: conventional frame repair, unibody damage identification and analysis, unibody measuring and fixturing systems, unibody straightening systems and techniques, unibody welding techniques, unibody structural panel repair and replacement.

Course Outcomes

Conventional Frame Repair

  • Demonstrate a proficiency to repair and align conventional frames.

Unibody Damage Identification and Analysis

  • Demonstrate proficiency in identifying and analyzing unibody damage.

Unibody Measuring and Fixturing Systems

  • Demonstrate knowledge of various types of measuring systems.

Unibody Straightening Systems and Techniques

  • Demonstrate the ability to make single and multiple-pull corrections.

Unibody Welding Techniques

  • Demonstrate unibody welding techniques according to factory specifications.

Unibody Structural Panel Repair and Replacement

  • Demonstrate ability to repair and replace unibody structural panels according to factory specifications.

Conventional Body Structural Panel Repair

  • Demonstrate ability to repair and replace structural panels on conventional body vehicles according to factory specifications.

Unibody Suspension and Steering Systems

  • Demonstrate ability to inspect, remove, and replace steering and suspension components on unibody vehicles to factory specifications.

Bolt-on Body Panel Removal and Replacement

  • Demonstrate ability to remove and replace bolt-on parts and panels to factory specifications.
