Course Description
This course explores the history of the human experience through literature and writing across the cultures of the world. Surveys important works across multiple genres of fiction and non-fiction as a reflection of cultural values. Explores themes from the ancient through modern era.

- Demonstrate knowledge of literary movements from the inventions of writing to the modern era.
- Interpret and critically think and respond to major literary works of writers from all areas of the globe.
- Demonstrate knowledge of major literary terms and conventions employed by writers.
- Demonstrate an understanding of major literary themes by writers.
- Demonstrate an understanding of writing strategies employed by authors.
- Display an understanding of the influences of culture upon various authors as well as various authors' cultural impact and the relationship of culture to the individual.
