Course Description
This course provides students with an opportunity for an in-depth application and reinforcement of principles and techniques in a medical office job setting. This clinical practicum allows students to become involved in a work setting at a professional level of technical application and requires concentration, practice, and follow-through. Topics include the application of classroom knowledge and skills and functioning in the work environment.

- Observe scheduling appointments.
- Observe billing procedures.
- Observe date input into the computer.
- Demonstrate telephone etiquette.
- Demonstrate use and maintenance of office equipment.
- Demonstrate competent assistance with history and physical exams.
- Perform electrocardiography.
- Demonstrate proper administration of injections.
- Perform proper venipuncture procedures.
- Perform CLIA waived laboratory procedures using proper techniques.
- Demonstrate emergency first aid skills.
- Maintain current CPR credentials.
- Relate effectively with healthcare team members and patients.
- Integrate appropriate communication with healthcare team members and patients.
