Course Description
This course introduces the properties of various metals, production methods, and the identification of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Topics include heat treatment safety, metallurgy principles, and the heat treatment of metals. This course also provides instruction in the safe setup, operations, and maintenance of surface grinders.
Course Outcomes
Surface Grinders and Surface Grinder Maintenance
- Test grinding wheels.
- Maintain grinding coolant system.
- Perform basic surface grinder maintenance.
- Store grinding wheels.
- Perform safe grinding.
- Calculate speed and feed limits for surface grinding.
- Calculate maximum and minimum acceptable sizes of the workpiece from tolerances specified.
