Course Description

This course develops skills that enable students to work as paraprofessionals in programs for kindergarten through elementary aged children. Topics include professional qualifications, professional and ethical conduct, professionalism and employment, and paraprofessional roles and responsibilities.

• Describe qualification for employment as a teacher, assistant, or paraprofessional.
• Identify methods of credentialing paraprofessionals.

Professionalism and Ethical Conduct

• State personal philosophy of early childhood care and education.
• Discuss local school systems goals and philosophies.
• Explain concepts of ethical practices and confidentiality.
