Course Description

This course introduces the principles of combustion and service requirements for gas heating systems. Topics include servicing procedures, electrical controls, piping, gas valves, venting, code requirements, principles of combustion, and safety. Students must pay a $30 supply fee when registering for this course.

      1                       Discuss the inspection and cleaning of ducts.
      2                       Inspect a gas burner.
      3                       Measure airflow or pressure with a manometer.
      4                       Measure airflow with an anemometer.
      5                       Measure airflow with velometers.
      6                       Remove or replace gas burners.
      7                       Discuss removal of asbestos insulation on ducts or pipes.
      8                       Remove or replace burners in forced air heating systems. (150K BTU or  less).
      9                       Perform a gas burner operational check.

 

Electrical Controls
