Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental principles and practices associated with interpreting technical drawings. Topics include the interpretation of blueprints and sketching.

Order Description
1 Match technical drafting terms to their correct definitions.
2 List the Alphabet of Lines and their use.
3 Given 1 or more of the 6 principal views, solve for the missing dimensions.
4 List the 2 different dimension systems used in technical drafting.
5 Describe the difference between general and local notes.
6 Calculate accumulated tolerance.
7 Calculate limit, unilateral and bilateral tolerances.
8 Identify 6 sectional views and their use.
9 Identify and size the following: diameters, radii, blind holes, clearance holes, chamfers,
fillets, rounds, keyseats and keyways, counterbores and countersink, finish symbols, bosses
and pads, slotted holes, tapers, necks, steel carbon content, spotface, annular grooves.
Sketching
Order Description
1 Sketch the Alphabet of Lines.
2 Draw a freehand sketch using the 6 principal views.
3 Draw a freehand isometric sketch to correct proportions.
4 Draw a freehand oblique cabinet sketch to correct proportions.
5 Use 5x5 and ISO grid paper to sketch technical drawings.
