Course Description
This course introduces line and low voltage switching circuits. It covers manual and automatic controls, devices, and circuits. Instructors will emphasize the operation and application of line and low voltage switching circuits and manual and automatic controls and devices. Topics include ladder and wire diagrams, switching circuits, manual controls and devices, automatic controls and devices and the application and operation of controllers and controls.

Ladder and Wire Diagrams
Order Description
1 Describe the conventional procedures followed in drawing the diagram.
2 Draw a two-wire control circuit.
3 Draw a three-wire control circuit.
Switching Circuits
Order Description
1 Connect and operate a motor and starter with a two wire switching circuit.
2 Connect and operate a motor and starter with a three wire switching circuit.
3 Connect and operate a motor and starter on high voltage with low voltage switching circuit.
Manual Controls and Devices
Order Description
1 Install a low-voltage, push-button control circuit for a three-phase AC motor.
2 Reverse direction of an AC motor.
3 Install speed indicators.
Automatic Controls and Devices
Order Description
1 List control accessories available for use with magnetic starters.
2 Electrically control a multi=speed motor.
3 Calculate heater sizes for motor protection.
