Course Description
This course provides additional instruction on wiring practices in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Topics include residential single family service calculations, residential two family service calculations, load balancing, sub panels and feeders, residential single family service installation, residential two family service installation, concepts of TV and CATV installation, swimming pool installation, and remote control of lighting and intercom installation. Students must pay a $30 supply fee when registering for this course.

Residential Single Family Service Calculations
Order Description
1 Calculate minimum rating IAW NEC.
2 Choose proper type and size IAW NEC.
Residential Two-Family Service Calculations
Order Description
1 Determine minimum size IAW NEC and owner options.
2 Determine proper type and size in accordance with the service type chosen.
Load Balancing
Order Description
1 Determine 120V and 240V loads.
2 Calculate unbalanced loads.
3 Balance loads phase to phase.
Sub-Panels and Feeders
Order Description
1 Size properly and choose style and type according to the NEC.
2 Determine the size/rating to NEC requirements.

1 Identify service entrance types.
2 Install service panel in residence according to service type chosen.

1 Identify service entrances for two family dwellings.
