Course Description
This course covers the fundamental concepts of industrial wiring with an emphasis on installation procedures. Topics include grounding; raceways; three-phase systems; transformers (three-phase and single-phase); wire sizing; overcurrent protection; NEC requirements; industrial lighting systems; and switches, receptacles, and cord connectors. Students must pay a $25 supply fee when registering for this course.

Industrial Safety
Order Description
1 Identify and discuss the use of safety tools and equipment.
2 Demonstrate the safe use of hand and power tools.
3 Demonstrate safe use of ladders and scaffolds.
4 Perform Wear approved PPE (Shoes, eye wear, hard hats).

Grounding

1 Discuss Article 250 of the NEC.
2 Discuss various methods of bonding.
3 Install grounding and bonding connectors.
Raceway Installation
Order Description
1 Discuss and identify various materials and devices used in raceway installations.
2 Calculate and size raceway using NEC tables.
3 Cut, ream, and bend EMT conduit for installation for all types of bends.
4 Cut, ream, thread, and bend rigid and IMC conduit for installation.
5 Discuss the applications of industrial blueprints.
6 Interpret industrial blueprints.
Branch and Feeder Circuits
Order Description
1 Discuss branch circuits and their applications.
2 Discuss Article 210 of the NEC.
3 Install branch circuits.
4 Discuss feeder circuits and their applications.
5 Discuss Articles 215 and 220 of the NEC.
6 Install feeder circuits.
Switches, Receptacles, and Cord Connectors
Order Description
1 Discuss single pole, double pole, three-way, and four-way switches.
2 Install single pole, double pole, three-way, and four-way switches.
3 Discuss single and duplex 120, 240, and 480 volt receptacles.
4 Discuss split-wired receptacles.
5 Install single and duplex 120, 240, and 480 volt receptacles.
6 Install cord connectors for 120, 240, and 480 volt circuits.
Wire Sizing
