Course Description
This course provides for the hands-on development of operational skills in the maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial control systems and automated equipment. Topics include data manipulation, math instructions, an introduction to HMI, analog control, and troubleshooting discrete IO devices.

Industrial Safety
Order Description
1 Perform Wear approved PPE (Shoes, eye wear, hard hats).
2 Perform Mount a lock-out tag for use with a padlock.
Data Manipulation
Order Description
1 Discuss the data file types for PLC's.
2 Discuss the procedure for Word level addressing.
3 Discuss and program the following instructions: greater than, less than, equal to, greater than or
equal, less than or equal, limit test.
4 Discuss and program a move and masked move instruction.
Math Instructions
Order Description
1 Discuss and program add, subtract, multiply, divide.
2 Discuss and program a compute instruction.
3 Discuss and program conversion instructions for binary to decimal or decimal to binary.
Program Control Instructions

Order Description
1 Discuss and demonstrate the use of HMI devices in industry.

4 Program and execute an HMI for control of discrete I/O.
5 Discuss and demonstrate animation capabilities of HMI's.
Analog Control

1 Discuss the difference between digital and analog signals.
2 Discuss the types of analog signals: 4-20mA, 0-10v.
3 Discuss the types of analog inputs.
4 Discuss the types of analog outputs.
5 Discuss and program a scaling operation.
Troubleshooting Discrete IO Devices
Order Description
1 Discuss and demonstrate the techniques for troubleshooting automated processes using PLC's.
2 Troubleshoot an automated process using the PLC interface.
