Course Outcomes
Advanced Dimensioning Practices
Order Description
1 Identify two basic methods used to give distance on a drawing.
2 Demonstrate the use of a datum.
3 Describe the purpose of dual dimensioning.
4 Demonstrate specification of surface texture.
5 Explain and demonstrate the use of symbols for roughness, roughness height, roughness width,
roughness-width cutoff, and waviness as applied to surface texture.
6 Identify the lay symbols according to ANSI Standard Y14.36.
7 Demonstrate the dimensioning of objects with holes, chamfers, tapers, objects from a datum, an
object that requires dual dimensioning.
8 Demonstrate the dimensioning of a machined part using surface texture symbols.
Section Views
Order Description
1 Explain the purpose of sectional views.
2 Describe and demonstrate full, half, broken-out, rotated, removed, auxiliary and assembly sections.
3 Identify and apply the material symbols used in section lining.
Precision Measurement Tools
Order Description
1 Identify types of precision measurement tools used for completing working drawings and threaded
and non-threaded fasteners drawings.
2 Use precision measurement tools to create working drawings and threaded and non-threaded
fasteners drawings.
