Course Description

This course provides instruction in procedures and practices necessary for safe and compliant operation of auto collision repair facilities. It introduces the structural configuration and identification of the structural members of various unibodies and frames used for automobiles as well as equipment and hand tools used in collision repair tasks.

Work facility safety

 

Order              Description

1                 Demonstrate knowledge of general shop safety by answering 90% of all questions on a shop safety exam, and identifying safety rules and obvious safety hazards in the work area.

 

Work facility cleanliness

 

Order              Description

1                 Demonstrate knowledge of shop cleanliness by cleaning work area and storing all tools, equipment and materials properly.

 

Safety devices

 

Order              Description

1                 Demonstrate knowledge of safety devices by identifying and demonstrating the proper use of each device selected by instructor, ex: guards, respirators, safety glasses, welding goggles, etc.

 

Hybrid electrical systems

 

Order              Description

1                  Identify the unique high voltage wiring harness colors found on hybrid electrical vehicles.



 

 1                  Demonstrate knowledge of inspection and sevice of Supplemental Restraint Systems

(SRS) components in accordance with manufacturer's procedures.

 

Grade D air paint systems

 

Order              Description

1                  Demonstrate knowledge of Grade D fresh air systems by identifying the proper use of the device.

2                  Demonstrate the proper storage and care of the safety device.

3                  Demonstrate the proper fit test when using the safety device.

 

Fire prevention and safety
